The high shaman finally understood why Shu Yichao didnât retreat.
He must be planning to have his specters siphon away my mana before attacking me. What a laughable plan! Youâre looking down too much on me!
So, he charged at Shu Yichao while unleashing a terrifying hurricane covered in searing flames. The flame hurricane devastated everything around it, incinerating the specters into ashes.
In the blink of an eye, the high shaman was already right in front of Shu Yichao.
Shu Yichao knew that the high shaman was not a pushover, but he was not about to back down here. His modao crackled with lightning as he urged his sand monitor to gallop forth.
âThis idiot!â Miazova was horrified, especially since it knew what Shu Yichao was up to.
Shamans were known to have high offensive prowess but abysmal defensive capabilities, but high shamans were a different story!
Just as Shu Yichao was about to cross blows with the high shaman, the bone ornaments worn by the latter suddenly emitted terrifying howls reminiscent of vengeful spirits.
A sinister black fog gushed out from the bone ornaments and enveloped the high shaman.
The black fog only lasted for seconds before dissipating, but by then, the black-cloaked high shaman had already transformed into a tiger-head, eagle-eyed monster with a body resembling withered wood.

Overall Review: A terrifying beast unit transformed by the high shaman. Wields formidable magic and close-quarter combat prowess. No one in his right mind would want to confront this terrifying beast. Those who are either painfully ignorant or absurdly brave could give it a tryâon the bright side, it would help you save on the coffin fee.
âHAHAHA!â
The high shamanâs stats after transforming were absurd, but Shu Yichao thought that only made things even more interesting.
Itâs boring to just trample on noobs. Conquering powerful bosses is more exhilarating!
âThis is more like a boss fight!â
Just looking at the enemyâs defense, Shu Yichao could already tell that his physical and magic attacks would barely scratch the high shaman⊠though admittedly, many bosses in the world were eventually scratched to death.
Bzt!
A sharp modao crackling with lightning descended on the high shamanâs resilient scales, producing sparks upon contact.
âStay away!â Shu Yichao ordered the ghost horsemen, who were preparing to charge forth. âThis bossâ head is mine! Anyone who dares to steal my head will be punished by martial law!â
ââŠâ
The high shamanâs mountain-like figure skidded to a halt. The flames shrouding his body torched the surrounding specters into ashes.
Whatâs going on?
The high shaman was bewildered.
He knew that his enemy necromancer was pathetically weak compared to him, and he hadnât been going easy on the other party either. Yet, whenever they clashed, the other party would somehow manage to dodge his attacks and even counterattack with baffling maneuvers.
Granted that the enemy necromancer couldnât deal much damage to him, this baffling situation still shook him up.
Are you kidding me?! I, a high shaman, am fighting with my full strength, but I canât take down a little rascal in a single move?
âGRAR!â
The high shaman raised his head to the sky and let out a bestial roar, releasing splatters of flames into the surroundings. He stomped on the ground with his heavy deer hooves, and the earth cracked open, releasing lava upon the world.
âItâs the AOE spell.â
Shu Yichao keenly distinguished which attacks needed to be deflected, and which attacks needed to be dodged. He deftly maneuvered the sand monitor through the volcano eruption spell. By the time the flames died down, he emerged from the attack unscathed.
Is this fellow a mouse?!
The high shaman could hardly believe his eyes.
He was reminded of his younger days when his house was infested with mice. Those little creatures were so frail that a swing of a bat should have clubbed their heads open, but the clumsy him was somehow never able to get those agile mice.
Boom!
The high shaman charged at Shu Yichao yet again. His gigantic body paired with his absurd movement speed made him no different from a massive tank that crushed everything in its path.
Bzzt!
Shu Yichao hurled a Lightning Arrow straight into the high shamanâs face before deftly dodging the latterâs charge once again. He immediately followed up with a swing of his modao down on the back of the high shamanâs neck, causing fresh blood to splatter.
The high shaman quickly retaliated with a backward swipe, but his attack fell empty. Instead, he even took another Lightning Arrow on his bum, charring it black.
Ding ding ding!
The high shaman rang the bone bells hanging on his waist, and unnerving, high-pitched ringing sounds reverberated across the battlefield.
The Chach soldiers clutched their heads and rolled on the ground out of sheer pain. Even the specters disintegrated amidst shrieks before the ringing sounds.
Yet, Shu Yichao was completely unfazed as if he couldnât hear the ringing sounds. He even pointed a middle finger at the high shaman, provoking the latter.
âCome, make your next move! Whoever backs down first is a tortoise!â
âGRAR!â
The infuriated high shaman lurched at Shu Yichao. He wanted nothing more than to tear the latter into shreds. But no matter what he did, ramming, swiping, hurling flames, unleashing lava, ringing his bone bells⊠he was unable to do anything about the slippery Shu Yichao.
It felt like he was playing whack-a-mole, only to end up being whacked by the moles.
âHu, hu, huâŠâ
On the other hand, Miazova was having a heart attack from watching Shu Yichao dodge the high shamanâs attacks by a hairâs breadth each time. At this rate, it would need a respirator and some pills to calm its heart.
Miazova tidied up his gas mask and adjusted the mouth gear before bellowing at the ghost horsemen, âOi, donât you think you are too much? Shu Yichao has done everything he can to fulfill his promise to you people, fighting without rest every day. Yet, youâre going to stand still and leave him to the lurch just because he tells you to?â
Shu Yichao and the high shaman were now moving so fast that Miazova was struggling to follow their movements, making it nigh impossible for him to toss out any spells to help out. That made him even more anxious.
Just thenâŠ
âYou have fallen for my trap! Hahaha!â
After missing yet another attack, the high shaman suddenly unleashed a barrage of thorns from his back. It was such an abrupt attack that there was no time for Shu Yichao to dodge.
But something baffling happened.
The thorns struck Shu Yichao squarely, but for some reason, it was the sand monitor he was riding on that let out a pitiful wail before collapsing to the ground. Shu Yichao simply rolled away and escaped unscathed.
ââŠâ
This was plain nonsense.
The high shaman was aware of spells that transferred the damage one had suffered to others, but those spells could only be cast after one had sustained damage. This was the first time he had seen a mount taking damage on behalf of its rider.
Fine, I donât fully get whatâs going on, butâŠ
âHmph!â
Bloodthirst flashed across the high shamanâs bestial eyes.
That fellow has been agile because of his mount. Now that I have slain his sand monitor, heâs just a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
âDie!â
The high shaman opened his mouth, and blobs of lava were spewed forth once again.
Shu Yichao was unbothered. He tightened his grip on his modao, ready to resume the battle.
Itâs just losing a mount. Big deal. Watch as I use my invincible rolls to dodge every single one of your attacks!
While Shu Yichao was unfazed, someone else was extremely frightened.
Hu!
A gust of wind blew, and a shadow flitted into the battlefield before fleeing the next instant.
âHm?â
Before Shu Yichao knew it, he was already floating high up in the sky. MoreoverâŠ
âWhatâs that? Where did this moth come from?â
